LOHAS: What Does It Mean and Why Should We Care?
Jennifer Schellinger, Marketing Director for Green Exchange, writes about her introduction to the world of green acronyms…As new trends, causes and movements find their way into our hearts and minds it is inevitable that new phrases, acronyms and jargon will work their way into our daily lexicon as well.  The green movement has proven to be no exception to this rule.  As a relative newcomer to the green scene, I vividly recall the first few meetings I attended to discuss the Green Exchange project and hearing people toss around acronyms with abandon, talking about everything from LEED to LOHAS.  I was lost.It didn’t take too long for me to discover that LEED was the term for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a term that was developed by the USGBC (yes, another oft heard acronym) or the United States Green Building Council.  The LEED green building rating system was created to promote design and construction practices that increase profitabi
